16th September 1915


Soldiers carrying out Quartermaster's fatigue duty at Anzac Cove - the fatigue duties
 on the Gallipoli Peninsula made heavy demands on the men's physical strength (below).



16th Sept Thursday 

A fine day. Felt tired after going to Ordnance yesterday to get articles indented etc.

09.00 Party working at new earthworks Sq. 55-K-5 – Engaged by 9th Battery.

18.15 No. 3 gun fired 5 rds P.S (at range of 760x) at sand-bag wall screening probable Machine Gun emplacement (Sq. 68-B-8) pointed out by Major Ross, 3rd Infantry Bge. + desired destroyed by him.  Retaliation for gun firing on LONESOME PINE.  Wall entirely demolished.
