Part of Mena Camp, seen from the road running up
the centre of the camp known
as Artillery Road. One of the reservoirs built at the camp is visible at the far end of
the
road, responsible for the flood mentioned in Col. Rosenthal's diary on the 4th
of January. The lines of the 1st
Australian Divisional Artillery are visible on the left,
and the lines of the 3rd
Infantry Brigade & Divisional Engineers are visible on the right.

Thursday 7th January
Left for manoeuvre area at 8.30, returning at 4 PM.
Again terribly dusty day. Very difficult to carry on any work. Layers tests had
to be discontinued.
Went into Cairo at 4.30 to ft on British Warm, and
get a few sundries. Returned to camp at 8.30. Ali Bey came out and brought
Nell’s photo very nicely framed.
