Mena Camp
Sunday
January 24 1915
I am down for
guard tonight and so will have no chance of getting over to the light horse camp
this afternoon as the Guard mounts at 5.15 pm. We have ten (10) prisoners in
the guard tent and about 8 oclock 2 of them escaped and there was quite a
stir. One of them came back in about an
hours time and as drunk as could be, the other must have cleared out of
camp. Anyhow, he is not worth looking
for. The Cp. in charge was put under
open arrest and the sentry who was over him was let off and the Cpl got off too
after a few questions.
Sunday 24th January
Church parade at 9.30. Class with officers for
sketching using new blocks, director and estimated ranges.
Had a good sleep this afternoon. Interview with
Colonel Hobbs at night, discussing personal matters concerning whole Artillery.
