The R.M.S. Franconia docked at Alexandria, on board which Major Burgess of
the 9th Battery was returned to the Gallipoli peninsula on the 17th May - Burgess
suffered shrapnel wounds in the head & neck when a H.E. shell struck Col.

Enemy's OLIVE GROVE BATTERY shelled the beach heavily.
Bomb. G. R. Brown wounded at BRIGHTON BATTERY.
R.M.S. FRANCONIA anchored off ANZAC at 12.15 PM O.C. went ashore + resumed command of 9th Battery at 6.30pm.
Monday 17th May
Lounged about all day reading. Sang a few songs in the afternoon.
